Heritage Hill State Historical Park and the Yankee Peas Mess are proud to present “La Baye By Lantern,” a unique two hour evening program immersing you in Green Bay as it would have appeared in the 1770s. At this time Green Bay was an important hub during the height of the Fur Trade and contributed to the Revolutionary War effort as well. As you step back in time with your guide, interact with historical reenactors at three different stations where you will learn about different aspects of Green Bay’s history in the 1770s, concluding with a special experience in Heritage Hill’s Fur Trade Cabin!

Program highlights include learning about the life of a Voyageur and the role he played in the Fur Trade Era; see and smell the different types of food that was prevalent in Green Bay and what the local American Indian populations ate and traded; step inside an original Fur Trade Cabin and learn how business transactions took place between the traders and American Indians; and finally, listen to stories about Charles de Langlade and his role in the Revolutionary War.

This walking tour covers approximately 1 mile and participants should plan to walk or stand for the majority of the experience. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight.
